changing ethernet card settings problem

Hello Gurus,

I am having a problem with changing the ethernet card settings.

The machines is running redhat 9. It worked ok in my colleague's cube with 10mbps half duplex. When we moved it to my cube it can't connect to the network since the port in my cube is 100mbps full duplex.

I tried mii-tool and ethtool, none of them works.

# mii-tool
eth0: 10 Mbit, half duplex, no link

I tried mii-tool with -F, -r, -R and -A options, it didn't do anyting, no error messages, either.

When I tried ethtool, it gave me this error:

# ethtool -s eth0 speed 100 duplex full
Cannot get current device settings: Operation not supprted
not setting speed
note setting duplex

The card is 3COM 3c905C-TX/TX-M, the kernel is 2.4.20-31.9 if it matters.

Please help!!

Thanks a lot
