Changing Ad Hoc Protocols

hi,

i am a under-graduate student. my prof has implemented an adhoc protocol and simulated it on some network simulation software and it worked out of box. She want to implement it on real world unix/linux systems. i am sure it is possible, but i dont know where to start from. please help.

What exactly are you talking about here? AdHoc as in WiFi, or some protocol over TCP/IP?

i want to modify ad-hoc routing protocols, like if systems is using AODV(Ad Hoc On demand distance vector routing protocol) then modifying it to a custom protocol.
