Change eth0 address and WINS server
I'm trying to set up a RH9 box to be a SAMBA filer server/VPN server. for WinXP clients. All was going ok until I tryed to move my eth0 address from 192.168.0.110/24 to 192.168.5.110/24 due to a subnet conflict that appeared.
Now, when I Poptop VPN into the box, I need to use WINS to allow the name resolution to work over the VPN tunnel. The problem is, from XP, I can ping 192.168.5.110 by number when connected via VPN just fine, but pinging by name (pinging server3 [192.168.0.110] with 32 bytes...) returned that it is trying to still ping the OLD address.
The XP box is configured to use 192.168.5.110 as the WINS server. and it is turned on in smb.conf . I am pretty sure the smb.conf id right, becuase the machine works just fine at the old address.
I have looked in the smb.conf files and all the associated PopTop files and there are no references to 192.168.0.110.
ifconfig eth0 returns that the card is at 192.168.5.110, so it appears to be correct.
Where do I look to find out why nmbd still thinks it is at 192.168.0.110?
Thanks!
P.S. I just switched BACK to the old address on the machine and VPN/ name resolution works again. Not a long term solution though.
