I think this is a wrapper of some sort to allow WLAN access with a Centrino wireless laptop miniPCI cards (among others)

Plus, it seems to support my desktop 802.11g card.

There was a fairly long thread at DSLReports about this, but the net of it is that it's the only option for you right now if you're using a Broadcom chipset.
