CentOS in orange zone can't get internet connection

Hey folks,

New here, but I think i've picked the right forum for my problem. And I did search around for quite a bit before posting :-)

I've installed CentOS 5.3 64bit on a virtual machine, for my orange zone in a IPcop LAN, and I'm not able to connect it to the Internet.

IP: 172.16.0.10
Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 172.16.0.1
DNS is properly configured

I can ping another host on the same switch, as well as the gateway, but not external hosts.

The other virtual host, windows xp, is able to surf the web, but it cannot ping external hosts. I guess that's a security precaution in IPcop? But again - CentOS can't either surf the web nor ping external hosts.

Worth to mention is that IPcop is virtually installed on another computer, and its DHCP for the green zone works great. It feels like the problem lays within CentOS.

Does anyone recognize my problem? Appreciate everything that can lead to a solution!

-Pelle

well what do the logs say on the ipCop server? Is it denying stuff, or not seeing any connections in the first place? are your pings resolving to IP addresses correctly?

Ok so I got it up and running now. Earlier when i did any changes i restarted the NetworkManager service, but later I noticed that the service network wasn't started .. so set it to automatically start on startup.

NetworkManager can be an odd little fellow. Doesn't have any place on a server really.
