CentOS boot delay after configuring to use DHCP

I was using static ip and things were fine. I changed it to DHCP and I am facing delay while booting, opening firefox and opening terminal.

I suggest that you look at the boot messages and see what is happening when you get the delay. You can also look at the system logs and see what is holding things up during the other operations. Post what you learn.

Check that /etc/hosts contains the system's hostname and local ip address (127.0.0.1).
You should have at least this line:
127.0.0.1 localhost

If the system can't resolve it's own name at boot that causes the delay.

What sort of "delay" are you talking about? is it a few minutes?, an additional second?

Can you verify that your DHCP server is giving you the information you need?

Compare the output of the ifconfig command with what you statically set. It may be obvious..
