All.

I have something that I am throwing in the towel.. it has to be in front of me.. I added DLink dge-530t nic to CentOS5.. it recognized the nic right away.. installed itself fine. in the 'network' adapters all looks well.. DNS is fine.. I added static IP to that adapter.. deactivated eth0 and activated eth1.. restarted network and it say that eth1 is online with my 2 vmnics.. try to go to google.. no internet.. try to ping machine next to me.. no dice.. i deactivate and go back to eth0 and all is well.. the settings look identical outside of new IP address.. i even tried using the same one..

any help is much appreciated..

Check the file /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1 for a GATEWAY entry. If there isn't one there, copy the GATEWAY entry from your ifcfg-eth0 file, then restart the network with "ifdown eth1; ifup eth1".
