cant get redhat to detect my bcm 4400 network card


i have a problem with tred hat 9 trying to detect my bcm 4400 integrated ethernet....i installed a new driver and even then it has a probelm detecting it...it got this warning:

etho has an alias to module 3c501 in modules.conf instead of currently loaded module bcm4400!

what does it mean...and how do i fix it??????
