Can't get into Monitor Mode

Hi all. I am trying to get my Orinoco Gold card into Monitor mode to run Kismet or hotspotter. For some reason, I can not get my card to go into Monitor Mode. I have tried running "iwconfig eth1 mode montor" and it says:

Error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06) :
SET failed on device eth1 ; Invalid argument.

I know that Monitor mode is a valid argument with the Wireless Tools v28 that I have installed (it is in the "man" pages). Do I need to upgrade my Orinoco drivers? I thought I did that, but I may have messed it up.

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

thanks.
Mark

Additional Info

By the way, I am using the Orinoco v15 or whatever. Not the 13e drivers (which seem to be the last drivers before the 15 version).

thanks again.
