Cant connect using DSL with Mandriva 2006

Hola...I just installed Mandriva 2006 RC2 and have been unable to log to the internet using my DSL conection.

I just follow the wizard of the Mandriva Configuration Center, but my dsl modem doesnt blink the leds.

I am using the same PPPoE configuration that i used with my windows xp os, however it simply doesnt connect it. I dont received a message about what could be wrong, simply a not connected message. I have removed and reinstalled the connection several times but with no results.

My ISP doesnt provide support for linux, but i know you guys can help me as you have done so before.

Thankyou

javier

Hey there Javier Mexico!

How is your DSL modem connected to your Linux box? Does it go through a router, does it connect directly via the USB port, does it connect directly using an Ethernet cable? Is your DSL modem also a router?

Cool

Help us with helping you - tell us what type of modem
it is, how it's connected to the computer, ...

Cheers,
Tink

I'm going to go ahead and move this into Linux - Networking... I *think* that is the best place to get good responses for you.

Hi, my dsl modem is a Efficient Networks SpeedStream, it is not a router, it is conected to my dell computer using a Cnet pro200wl PCI Fast Ethernet card. When I configured for the first time the adsl conection manually (my country is not shown in the wizard), the modem leds start blinking, like the modem is trying to connect to my isp. But after a minute i just stay with a message saying: Not connected.

In fact, I have been unable to find where to configure again the username and password.

thank you for your help, do i miss something that i should include?

Hi, I forgot to tell you that my adsl modem is a speadstream 5200 not configured as a router.

I thought that with this kind of configuration (dsl with ethernet), my linux connection would be painless.

my dsl profile its suppose to be pp0. I tried to do an ifconfig -a during
the connection but i didnt receive anything. Below is my windows xp info.
