Can't Connect to Internet w/ SiS630 Chipset
I have a home server I am trying to get on the Internet. There is no GUI installed and I am trying to get on the Internet so I can download one. I am using Ubuntu 6.06 Server.
My motherboard is the ECS P6STP-FN with an SiS630 chipset. I am using the integrated network controller.
Is there a special step I need to take to enable DHCP? How can I tell whether or not my network card has been detected by Ubuntu?
I hope I provided I enough information.
RE: Can't Connect to Internet w/ SiS630 Chipset
Log into your server with the root account and type ifconfig. Can you post what it says? Also have a peek at motherboards.cz for the specs on your motherboard
If ifconfig sees your NIC, all you should need to do is type dhclient at the console to send out a dhcp request to your router (I assume you are using a broadband router/modem to connect to the internet
