After reinstalling linux server (replaced Fedora c1 with c2) I can't access samba server from XP home. I used same smb.conf file as before and it works fine for another computer with Win98.
I keep getting request for guest password I can't get rid off.

My smb.conf:

netbios name = your netbios name
encrypt passwords = Yes

remember to restart smbd and nmbd after any changes.

I did it but no improvement ...
Is username on XP comp importatnt when guest access is enabled?

on mine, security = share (don't know if it's case sensitive, but most *nix stuff is), also, does user benjamin on your linux box require a password, if so, then you might want to set up a guest account, then passwd -f guest to allow it to not have a password, and map shares accordingly

Should I worry or is this normal?

my working theory is that if it does what you want it to do, then error messages are just there to let you know the program is working
