After reinstalling linux server (replaced Fedora c1 with c2) I can't access samba server from XP home. I used same smb.conf file as before and it works fine for another computer with Win98.
I keep getting request for guest password I can't get rid off.
My smb.conf:

server string = serverbe
socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192
password server = None
workgroup = mshome
guest ok = yes
printcap name = /etc/printcap
security = SHARE
max log size = 50

# Un-comment the following to provide a specific roving profile share
# the default is to use the user's home directory
;[Profiles]

# NOTE: If you have a BSD-style print system there is no need to
# specifically define each individual printer

on mine, security = share (don't know if it's case sensitive, but most *nix stuff is), also, does user benjamin on your linux box require a password, if so, then you might want to set up a guest account, then passwd -f guest to allow it to not have a password, and map shares accordingly

It is working now, thanks.
This morning I got report from logwatch and here are some samba warnings:
WARNING: Kernel Errors Present
end_request: I/O error, dev hda, sector...: 4 Time(s)
smb_file_read: //pagefile.sys validation failed, error=4294967270...: 1 Time(s)
smb_lookup: find //pagefile.sys failed, error=-26...: 14 Time(s)
smb_proc_readdir_long: error=-13, breaking...: 6 Time(s)
Should I worry or is this normal?

my working theory is that if it does what you want it to do, then error messages are just there to let you know the program is working
