You have no DNS servers configured or you can't reach them. Add some to your /etc/resolv.conf:
Code:
nameserver 123.456.789.012
where 123... is the ip of your nameserver (you can add one or more, one per line). Or, run
Code:
dhcpcd
or
Code:
dhclient
depending on which one you have. Or if they "can't be found" or are "unknown commands", try adding /sbin/ in front of the command, i.e. /sbin/dhcpcd.

If the latter case works, you can surf "with names" after that, you need to configure your connection to use DHCP to retrieve information.

b0uncer: very nice! I ran the dhclient you suggested and it fixed everything. now, what do you think caused this? I first noticed this when I went to Easy Urpmi to get updates. Then, when I posted them into command line as root, it couldn't get the files, and everything was down after that. BTW - using Mandriva 2007
