'route' is a command showing your current routing table - in simple words: where to send each packet. The most important thing is to have your dialup interface (ppp) set as deault gateway (all packets that don't fit previous rules - usually local network- go throught it). Open a terminal, type 'su', then your root passowrd. When it's done, type
route
and copy the result.
So, lets get the configs
/etc/resolv.conf contains
search localdomain
nameserver isp.dns.ip.addy
nameserver isp.dns.ip.addy1
now /etc/host.conf contains these lines
order hosts, bind
multi on
If you can't resolve names that means the DNS information isn't available or configured improperly. Try gives us some hints on the above mentioned files.
