I've set up a linux box as a NT Domain Server, which, so far, works ok. That is, until I try to share a drive on another computer (Windows 98se), when I try to retrieve the list of users, I get the message:
"You cannot view the list of users at this time. Please try later."
i think you're using samba 2.0.x, that is a feature that was not improved on that release,
you should share resources, not to the users. i think samba already is able to retrieve the
list of users from the server, but i can't confirm it right now because i had
dificulities trying to upgrade and i haven't resolved yet. i hope this helps. bye!!
i don't know from where are you trying to upgrade i think it's an RPM or a Debian package
Try to make a fresh install from the source, maybe you havee more luck than i.
the error i get is
[2001/10/16 13:46:38, 0] smbd/connection.c:yield_connection(63)
yield_connection: tdb_delete for name failed with error Record does not exist.
i don't know i think i need to move an exe file to a diferent directory, but try it
you have nothing to lose (if you're in test plataform)
Wolverine, you might just try creating a symlink that points the required version of Samba to the new version. Dunno if it will work, but I've 'fooled' my computer before doing this.
to install the new samba, just remove the out of date verion of swat first, and then get the newer version of swat afterwards. Never let a trivial dependency get in your way... and swat's a waste of time anyway.. well.. maybe
