I recently installed mandrake 10.2 LE 2005 and nearly all devices were properly recognized but boot process hangs on starting network (while saying disabling IRQ#20). I succesfully tried manual boot without starting network but when I try to connect to the internet (turning on D-Link DSL300 modem) system hangs.
I'm using DHCP adsl, network adapter is properly recognized (Intel Pro100 - with proper driver).
I even tried to configure a PPPoE connection with the same result.
Could anybody suggest me something? I would be grateful.

Is you LE box the only thing hooked up to the modem? Is it through a router? I think if you booted without starting network services eth0 then switched on the dsl modem you would have to restart the network again to bring up eth0 to try and find the broadcast from the modem...

Try shutting down your system... Unplug the DSL modem for a few min's re-plug and let it sync up again then try restarting LE...

Thank you very much for your attention. I finally solved the problem. Mandriva automatically set the operating system to work with IO-APIC (if I'm not wrong this should be worth for multiprocessors systems: that's not my case!). This configuration eventually sent some false IRQ which caused the network adapter not to work, or something similar... (please forgive me, I'm still a Linux quasi-analphabet). Thank you again. Bye.
