cannot access my file server on SAMBA

i am trying to build a small network with 1 linux Box and 1 window box over an hub. i have tried to use SAMBA but i think i have done something wrong because window box can see linux box but when i double clink it it say "no permission cannot find network path". also when i check the status og samba using SWAT it show smbd not running ,restarting it also not working.
please advise.

thanks dear i was finaly able to do it. but can i also connect a linux box to a SAMBA or do i have to use NFS.
