I believe your answer would lie in the WinVNC product. There are others as well. Here is the link for WinVNC.

The download includes both the VNC client (viewer) and server.
The WinVNC server will allow your Linux box to pull up the Windows 2000 desktop on your KDE desktop using vncviewer as well.
But if you didn't want to install this (and your Linux box has vncserver available), you could use the java viewer inside a standard (java-capable) browser. Just point the browser to:

Do a man vncserver on your Linux box to see how to use it. If you get a blank screen then you will need to play with the ?xinitrc? or xstartup file under the ?".vnc"? directory in your home directory as well.
