I believe your answer would lie in the WinVNC product. There are others as well. Here is the link for WinVNC.

http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/winhistory.html

The download includes both the VNC client (viewer) and server.
The WinVNC server will allow your Linux box to pull up the Windows 2000 desktop on your KDE desktop using vncviewer as well.

But if you didn't want to install this (and your Linux box has vncserver available), you could use the java viewer inside a standard (java-capable) browser. Just point the browser to:

http://linuxkdebox:5801/

Check the documentation at the following address for the exact port number to go to.

http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/

Do a man vncserver on your Linux box to see how to use it. If you get a blank screen then you will need to play with the ?xinitrc? or xstartup file under the ?".vnc"? directory in your home directory as well.

or you could even get a windows X client, and connect that way...I do believe cygwin makes one..

Either way, with VNC or finding an X client for windows, it ends up being a kludge, as XFree86 has all the network crap all in there for remote logins, and Windows doesn't...

thats also a good product, someone I work with uses cygwin and he says it is a great product. I couldn't remember the name of it in my first post. Check it out at their website:

http://www.cygwin.com/

There are also commercial products such as Hummingbird's Exceed product.
