can see but cant read files on windows share, help a newb out!
I am using mandrake 10.1 download and samba 3.0 apperently from my packages signature.
I have samba set up pretty nicely. All of my windows machines can read my linux server without a prolem and read from them. My linux server though, I can all my windows shares and the files, but if I go to move a stream an mp3 to my linux box it always errors out and says it cant read the file. I had it working well my last install but don't know what I did differently. Help me please as I am running low on cdr-s and money! |
hello and welcome to LQ!
check two things, that the permissions are set ok, and that the filename is correct. Is it just one type of file or everything? titanium_geek |
I discovered before I went to work that it was only one folder that would do it. I believe the folder wouldnt share because it was a localized subdirectory that windows usually wont allow sharing under with simple shares in XP home. I moved the directory, programs associated with that directory, and files to a place that can be shared and hopefully it will work. I will findout tommorrow morning when I have time.
