We all know what happens when we need to build a real network in universities. we can collect as much end devices as possible, but the problem comes when an intermediatory devices are needed. for example It is not easy to get a router in most university laps.We are therefore looking for a way in which we can build a router from a normal pc to form a real test pad.with the knowledge that most operating systems are in black box, linux may be a helpful open source. can any one help about making the Pc into router by configuring the linux. if you have any helpful links or source please foward it to muhudin99@yahoo.com

We are not here to provide you with one-on-one, personalized email tech support. If you want answers, participate in the forums.

And if you want information on building a Linux router, check Google. Lots of how-tos are there.

The simple answer is yes, you can use a PC with a Linux OS as a router.

Of course linux can make a PC act as a router - most off-the-shelf routers out there are already running linux.

You'll need a few NIC cards installed in your PC, and by the time you have bought these, installed and configured then, you might as well have gone out and purchased a router. Faster, cheaper, simpler.

But if you want to experiment and learn, go ahead!

You'll find this a useful resource: http://www.google.com/linux
Then enter pc as router and click [Search]

Have fun.
