Can I still use my old smb.conf file?

I upgraded my Slackware 9.1 box to samba 3.0 using the 'upgradepkg samba-3.0.0-i486-1.tgz' command.

Can I still use my old smb.conf file from samba 2.2.8a? Or does samba 3.0 have some new fangled features that need to be configured in a new smb.conf file?

its pretty much still the same, but if you just want to save the shares

the rpm package should of saved your old smb.conf as

smb.conf.rpmsave

There are quite a few differences between the 2.x and 3.x versions of samba. Moving between the 3.x versions should not be that bad. You may want to look at the changelog as it tells what has changed from the previous version. You can use the new file, but first try running testparm. It will complain if it doesn't work or there are unrecognized parameters.
