Can I mount NFS over the Internet through secure tunnel???
Hi all. I'm new to this forum. It seems pretty neat.
I have a question which I hope someone can help me with. I want to share a file system over the Internet but I want to do it as securely as possible with minimum costs and maximum transperancy.
I am currently thinking of two options;
1. I can uses a site to site VPN and NFS to acomplish my task with a Linux box at either side. This is the no brainer method and I need to invest in a small firewall that will VPN to my main firewall. This way I can tunnel traffic and mount an NFS volume over a secure VPN tunnel between firewalls.
2. Can I connect from one Linux box to another through, say, SSH and then mount an NFS volume? This way I tunnel traffic over a secure tunnel created between Linux boxes.
I prefer method 2 but I am not sure if this is possible. How would I go about doing this. Does Linux have this capability?
Thanks in advance for your response.
