Question Can't determine dynamic IP in Fedora 8

Hi Friends,
I've a typical sort of a problem.
I've a Reliance Broadnet connection (also called Wimax here in India). Its a wireless broadband connection with dynamic IP assignment.
Moreover, I dual boot to Windows Vista & Fedora 8, and not very experienced in Linux.
The problem is, that windows is able to get an IP assigned everyday easily but Fedora can never get an IP. I wonder what's missing there...
Earlier I had openSuse 10.2 and it used to get an IP pretty coolly...

The network card in Fedora shows 'Inactive'. When I try to 'Activate' it, a popup comes up saying 'Trying to find an IP...' and after some time, appends 'Failed' to it...
I tried disabling the service 'ip6tables' as well, but no use...
I even tried to ping to the Reliance servers from a support IP (static) and it was successful, so there's no issues from that side in getting an IP assigned; moreover at the same time Vista can connect fine...

Any pointers from anyone? In case you need anymore data to get to the root, please let me know...

Thanks in Advance!

Some routers do not play with Linux nicely, try adding the router's internal IP address(the same one you successfully pinged) to the /etc/sysconfig/network file, for example;

GATEWAY=192.168.1.1

Also check your /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ethX file for the line entry: ONBOOT=yes
When done as root type: service network restart
