I have what seems to be a simple problem, but since I can't seem to find a solution after a considerable amount of searching I am going to ask it here. I apologize if I am repeating a common thread..
I have mandrake 10.0 on a server connected to a netgear router. Also connected to the router are 3 other windows computers. Basically, right now I am just trying to be able to connect to services on the linux machine from other computers on the LAN (ill worry about the external internet connections later).
My problem is that I cannot seem to connect to anything on my linux machine. I thought it was the firewall configuration but after messing with it for a while I simply turned it off with:
Code:
service shorewall stop
Unfortunately nothing seemed to change. From the linux machine I can successfully ping all of the other computers in the LAN, but ping localhost will result in %100 loss. I can ssh to one of my windows computers running cygwin and can also successfully ssh localhost on linux. A port scan from one of the windows computers yields nothing from the linux machine. Hopefully the following will help:
Code:
[root@ lserv]# ifconfig

If you can offer any help, or point me to some, it would be greatly appreciated. Mostly I want ot be able to use ssh, so if you need to focus your help on any specific service, that would be it.
Thanks!
