Can't connect Fedora 12 system to wireless network

I'm running the 64-bit version of Fedora 12 on a MacBookPro5,1 system. I am unable to connect to my wireless network, which shows up in the list of available wireless networks.

I will enter my password and the system will try for several seconds to establish a connection and then fail.

I know the network is fine because I can connect to it when I boot the computer in Mac OS X.

What can I try that will allow me to connect to my wireless network under Linux?

Fedora has always been a bit touchy with the network

ALSO

like what you have tried to do already?
What brand is the wireless hardware ?

I don't have nor am I going to install any other distributions Linux, so I don't know about that. I have Mac OS X and Windows 7 installed on the system in addition to Fedora 12. The wireless network works fine on both of those operating system.

I don't know the brand of wireless hardware. It is whatever is standard for a MacBookPro5,1 laptop computer.

This is what I have tried:

I am running the Gnome desktop.
I can click on the Network Manager icon on the task bar in the upper right corner of the screen. That will show a list of available wireless networks, including my wireless network.
I select my network and the Network Manager displays the animated icon that it is attempt to make a connection.
It tries to connect for for several seconds and then reverts to the icon that indicates the network connection failed.

I don't know if there are any error message that would be logged in a file or something that I can post to give more insight into why the connection is failing.

What can I do to provide more information that would be helpful in solving this problem?

Hopefully this will provide extra information that is helpful:

I went to System->Administration->Network.

Under Hardware tab it contains:
Broadcom Corporation BCM4322 802.11a/b/g/n Wireless LAN Controller as the wireless network device.

Also in the Device tab the wireless device's Status is Inactive
The Activate and Deactivate buttons on the tool bar are greyed out, so I don't know how to change the device to Active

have you read the fedora doc's ??
for the network
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/user-g..._Internet.html

http://docs.fedoraproject.org/
-----
you might also want to read through the Fedora "Guides & Solutions (No Questions)"
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/forumdisplay.php?f=12

or do a search on the fedora forum for "Broadcom"
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/search...rchid=11918188
-- there are 50 hits for just the last 3 months.

also keep in mind that fedora is "cutting edge " and not everything will or dose work
nor will everything work correctly .

Laptops have been a big problem with fedora seeing as some of the code is SO new that there are not drivers for ALL of the new code.
this is one of the reasons that fedora is a " testing distro"
