Can't change NIS Password


I am getting this error in the /var/log/messages on my NIS Server, and I cannot change the password for any users......anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

rpc.yppasswdd[4257]: update tschreffler (uid=531) from host 165.218.172.29 rejected

rpc.yppasswdd[4257]: Invalid password.

Some possiblities come to mind:
1) you are using short encryption on your NIS server and long encryption on your client
2) you are using shadowing

Try creating a user on your client, and compare the /etc/passwd entry to what you see when you create a user on your server.
