Appreciate any help/tips

This would be more appropriate in the "Programming" forum, though you should realize that LQ is not here to do your work for you. Users here will be glad to give you advice, but asking them to write you a complete function is another story.

What protocol, and how would you access the shared directory if you weren't using C?

If you've mounted the shared directory as part of your own filesystem, then you can just parse it as one of your own. glibc has an API for this.

We can't give more specific advice than that, because that's all we can do with the information provided. Also, we don't know what the Host and Result structures (or are they typedefs) look like.

EDIT: WHY DID YOU DELETE THE QUESTION?

xin jo,

Welcome to LQ. I hope you enjoy it here.

dugan asks a good question:

Was the deletion accidental or intentional? If it was accidental, we can help you restore the content. If it was intentional, we need to explain why that is normally not acceptable behavior here. You're new & I'd like to see you get off to a good start to becoming an asset to the LQ community.

Thanks for your co-operation.
