Question broadcom bcm 4311 not working ubuntu 10

I am running kde ubuntu 10 on a gateway laptop with a Broadcom bcm series wireless network card. network manager 7.0 is installed. the broadcom STA wireless driver is also installed. Network manager sees the network and I can select the network and it shows as active yet I have no connection. The wired connection works fine. What am I missing?

How did you install the STA driver ?.
I had to rebuild a netbook recently with one of those. Same system (Ubuntu 10.10), but after the re-install I did a system update, and then STA driver from "proprietary drivers" - worked straight away. Previously I'd had to install it manually.
