I am going to make use of Shorewall for sharing broadband connection as per following setup:
- 3 PCs, PC-1 with 2 NICs and PC-2 and PC-3 each having only one NIC
- PC-1 eth0 connected to broadband modem (ADSL)
eth1 connected to a switch-hub
- PC-2 and PC-3 connected to the switch-hub
- Installing "Shorewall" on PC-1 allowing port fowarding as well as firewalling
- File sharing will be done by Samba
Kindly advise
1) Which document shall I read. It is relevant to my request.
2) Whether Shorewall will suit my application. Any alternative, easy to setup?
Erm, depends. Are you planning to use PC1 as a workstation as well? Or just a firewall?
If it's an older box that's just going to be used as a firewall, you might want to look at Ipcop ( www.ipcop.org ) or smoothwall ( www.smoothwall.org ). Both are dedicated firewall distributions. I prefer Ipcop, but your mileage may vary.
Both are reasonably easy to setup, provided you rtfm.

Hi,
Thanks for your advice.
PC-1 will also work as workstation. It is a PII 350 PC.
