I am using Mandrakelinux 10.1 official release. There was everything good until i acquire new broadband connection. The connection connects my PC by external ADSL modem through my LAN card. My ISP did't gives me any ip address except user-name and password. The speed is 512 kbps. In taskbar a icon of eth0 is shows me network is up on link interface eth0. I did all type of configuration but there is no success. I also tried " ifconfig" (without " ") it shows my Ethernet related information.
One more thing the connection is through my telephone line. If i goes to ADSL connection setup there is no list of my location . So please help me install this connection.

Sounds like you're DSL line is classed as PPPoE, which utilises your ethernet connection as the connection to your DSL line. I'm not too familiar with Mandrake with regards to setting up this kind of connection, but there's plenty of howto's out there on getting it configured, Try http://www.linuxhelp.net/guides/pppoe/ as a starter, or hope someone can give more detailed instructions. Have you tried the Mandrake online support?

As you say i have installed rp-pppoe form the site. After configuration it shows me connection is on with green lights. But when i inserts url into browser there is no response and shows me generic error something like "error while loading www.xyz.com". Like there is no connection. So is there any perticular configuration for browsers for this connection.
