broadband

i have finally descided to get broadband because i am fed up with installing os's so i want to just install debian testing, update it to sid then keep it that way. I was just wondering how easy or hard is it to set up, because i have be on 56k its so easy to setup up with the likes of pppconfig and wvdial. Is there a tool like these for it? or is it all manual or what?

I've found that configuring broad band is usually easier than configuring dial-up connections.

As the connection to the computer is through the Ethernet Card, you configure it as if you were in any other network. If your provider uses PPPoP you may need to configure the id and password, but most every distribution has tools to configure it easily.

Your comment about "i am fed up with installing os's", sounds funny, just because it seems to be a sport for people in broad band to download distributions and try them in a spare partition. Once you are on broad band and get used to the relative speed, you'll feel that it's OK to try other distributions.

Question. If you are fed up with installations, why did you choose Debian over other distributions that are easier to install and administer?

like?, i did find gentoo quite easy to keep up-to-date but compiling all the progs was annoying, arch linux still seemed a bit too new to me and it had a few buggy packages, so i decided on debian and apt-get.
