My squid version is 3.1.4, configure squid as transparent. I have another server which is using for authentication. So the request will come to authentication server and forwarded to squid. Hence i used bridge concept. Internet willwork fine for sometime after sometime browsing become very slow. Added more memory, hDD, Gbic network cards, still same

so what does a tool like firebug say about the requests? where are the delays coming from? How quickly is this "authentication" system replying? Adding more memory etc should be irrelevant, it's only a small amount of internet traffic...

You may wish to say please / thank you in future too btw.

Thanks for your quick response.

Authentication is to check whether the user is allow to browse or not. If we restart the squid server, internet will be fine for sometime.Internet is slow as well as in the proxy server.

I know what authentication is. I asked how quickly it was replying. Please answer the questions I asked.

Once authentication sucess, user can start browsing. The issue is internet will be slow in the network as well in the proxy server no matter how many users connected. Once we restart proxy server internet will be better for some period, sometime we can feel slowness from begining.

I am very new to linux.

Thanks

you're just repeating yourself yet again.

being new to Linux has no relation to reading replies and providing answers. have a look at firebug or such like to see where the slowness might be. In general your setup sounds pretty horrible. I would never recommend a transparent system, and would suggest removing the bridging.
