Help needed on creating bootdisk w/ PCMCIA + network + ftp

Hi,

Unfortunately I don't know how to do this myself so I've got to ask you guys - knowing that this is probably something simple, well

I've got an old notebook (P233 IBM) which has no CD-Rom drive, a FDD, and a blank HDD. I've got an Xircom IIps (10MBit) PCMCIA card. On my main system I've got a DHCP server and and FTP running.

What I need is a way to boot off a floppy drive on the notebook. I need it to recognize the Xircom PCMCIA network card, get an IP address, and also recognize the local FAT32 formatted HDD. Then I need it to connect to my main PCs FTP over the network, so I can dump all my junk onto the laptop.
It'd be great if someone can walk me through on how-to compile a boot-disk for me with some distro*

Any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated.
(And yes, I will be using the laptop to install Win98 because that's all my father knows how to use -- Windows that is... please don't hold the purpose against me).

Thanks,
-choppa

* or if you could send me one that you know of (link/binary)
P.S. I've tried all the typical "Windows" methods, or at least as many as I could spend time on --- Bart's bootloader for example didn't want to work for me Anyway, just in case someone thinks I'm being lazy, I'm not. Been searching for the past 5 hours for help.

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.

In future please use the "Report this post to a moderator" link and ask for your thread to be moved.

Thanks!
