blocking ip addess at late at night using firestarter?
my kids are using the computer late, I am using firestarter and I don't see anything about blocking web sites at night so the kids go to slleep. I alot manually add there ip address at night and remove it . but this its geting be a lot of work. the gateway is running fedora 7. thank you
For small kids, you might want to use a whitelist to control which sites they can visit. Another thing to consider is having the computer in a family area and not in their bedroom. If they don't have root access to the computer that they use, you could edit the /etc/security/access.conf. This can prevent them from logging in after a certain time. I haven't used this, so I don't know what happens if they logged in earlier.
Well I have been reading a lot on that it just does not seem to make sence. I have used Ipcop in the past . but I like mplayer (aka its near my tv) and when I leaned How easy the gui for firestarter was I have been using that. Do you know any guide that step you though squid using webmin. or squids own WWW interface. thank you
I start the Squid server via webmin on the host computer. and then I set up my bowers to connect to a socket v4 proxy and tell that to connect to my gatways IP port 3128. but I an not sure what to do to with /etc/squid/squid.conf to get the server working.
