Blocked mount

I live on a college campus and I'm trying to access data that one of our labs gets. I have dual boot linux/windows pc. All the lab computers run the newest version of slackware, as does my system. Im trying to mount the drive with the data on my computer but it seems to be blocked. I talked to the linux IT guy and he said that there is a way to do it but he cant tell me because the campus windows IT guys wont appreciate it too much (those jerks) can anyone help me figure it out because its killin me that I cant get at this data so I dont have to go to the lab every time I need it.

I've been using linux for about 3 years now and im very comfortable in the terminal but im a complete noob when it comes to networking.

Thanks!

Can you ssh into one of the systems and then use scp to copy the data you need?

There's also the option of setting up a simple file server with Samba and access it through your Windows desktop...not sure how much the lab admins would like that if/when they found that out though.
