BELL sympatico

Hallo!
I have trouble with red hat 9.0 to connect to the sympatico HSE.
I need pppoe to connect. The following are installed . . .
pppd-2.4.1
rp-pppoe-3.5.1
eth0 is known to the kernel.

i followed the rp-pppoe setup instructions with out sucess . . .
I also tried the red hat solution with no sucess.
I think this is not a common issue as in many forum this is not mentioned much.

NIC is RTL 8139.

when i run the adsl-start > Pid file not found . . .

if anyone can help me out, I am glad. I want to move away from M$ as soon as posible.
i am a newbie to Linux, but not to computers
thanks people . . .

pid files not found?
really strange... but in pppoe.conf (possibly /etc/ppp) there's an option about where rp-pppoe should save his pid, maybe he just need you to create the file?

same answer than before.
It is buggy, badly made, out of date, use Rp-pppoe instead.
