I have the Broadcom BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller
Here's the solution in my Dell PowerEdge 400SC with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS:
Follow nickdbliss' instructions, at
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=827799
with a few exceptions:
1. May not need to remove b43-fwcutter. I had to, because I had already tried that solution and installed b43-fwcutter.
2. You cannot remove it through the Software Manager or whatever that thing is called.
3. #sudo aptitude remove b43-fwcutter <--this DOES NOT need an internet connection
4. The driver does not need to get downloaded. Just use the one that comes on the installation disk for the wireless card. It's under FILES/DRIVERS/w*2k. The name of the Win2K driver is bcmwl5.inf
Note that the b43-fwcutter solution did not work for me:
