Bandwidth Limiting Using CBQ..problem :(

hi can you please explain me how to limit the bandwidth by using cbq.init, im really new to it

Here is my scenario i have two interfaces connected to my linux box eth0 is connected to my Laptop and eth1 is connected to cable modem (internet) 64K

Eth0= 192.168.17.1
Eth1= 202.5.145.65

Now i want to limit my Laptop internet usage to be 3k for for everything , can any one please help me to make configuration file (/etc/sysconfig/cbq/) for this scenario

Any help would be greately appreciated

i guess ur laptop ip is 192.168.17.2 and gateway for ur laptop is 192.168.17.1
do the followings: -
1) move everything from /etc/sysconfig/cbq folder to another backup folder.
2) create a new file in /etc/sysconfig/cbq folder

Code:

touch /etc/sysconfig/cbq/cbq-101.mylaptop

3) edit the file cbq-101.mylaptop with ur favorite editor

DEVICE=eth0,10Mbit,1Mbit # its ur eth0's speed . it can be 100Mbit, 10Mbit
RATE=24Kbit #this is ur desired bandwidth rate
WEIGHT=2.4 kbit
PRIO=5 
RULE=192.168.17.2

save it ....... then do follwoings

Code:

cbq stop
cbq start

This is the simplest configuration. u can do a lot more with cbq. find ur cbq.init file and read it.
