bad packet: I can ssh into server, but not on newly installed nxclient
Although I successfully use NoMachine nxclient on a Mac to work on a remote linux machine, I am unable to use NoMachine installed on Ubuntu 12.04 to access the same remote linux machine.
The error details mention a "bad packet", and I am not sure how to fix this. I have some idea of what typically causes such errors (bad encryption, incompatible ssh protocols), but I do not know where to begin to fix it. I think both my ssh client and the host supports protocol 2. Ideas? |
lets try.
1. Did you tried to login using SSH from Ubuntu Machine to the 'Same remote Linux Machine'?. If yes was it successful.? Also use the same username & password for nx client as SSH login |
Nor can I vnc view a Mac.
Answering this question:
1. Did you tried to login using SSH from Ubuntu Machine to the 'Same remote Linux Machine'?. If yes was it successful.? Also use the same username & password for nx client as SSH login Yes, ssh from Ubuntu to (I think it's CentOS) works fine, using the same username & password for nxclient. On a related note, I also cannot remotely view the desktop of my mac pro. Using my macbook pro, I CAN view the desktop of my my mac pro, but following the same line of steps does not work in Ubuntu for me. Thanks for try # 1. |
What about Log messages for nx server on destination machine?

yes
yes, an nxclient, on Ubuntu that fails to connect to a nxserver. There is also a vnc viewer on the same Ubuntu machine that fails to connect to OS X (via screen sharing)

I don’t know about the features of nxserver/client. Maybe TeamViewer is an option for you? |
