Bad IP connecting to Win VPN

Hi there,

When I try to connect to one particular Win SBS 2003 VPN, I get issued with a bad IP, eg 169.x.x.x

I am using Ubuntu 9.04 and can successully connect to a number of other PPTP connections.

If I try to connect from a Windows client, I am issued with a good IP.

Did you check logs on both the Server/Client side?
I remember coming across some problems because I had set "Require encryption, disconnect if none" on the Windows 2003 SBS PPTP server few years back, maybe you can remove that setting on the PPTP Server and see if it helps.

I haven't checked the logs on the server yet. The problem is that I do not have any Windows machines at my disposal at the moment. The only way I could do this is to be at the server, (which is easier said than done).

I am almost certain that the server doesn't require encryption.

I will make myself up a basic Windows box tomorrow to log in and will report back.

Haven't had a lot of spare time to myself in the last week or so, with Christmas creeping up so quickly. So I haven't had a chance to build a Windows box to try connect, but I did have another go from Ubuntu. Same thing, but I noticed that the P-t-P address followed the same pattern and I could RDP to that IP with no problem. Name resolution doesn't work though.

I could live with this, but the P-t-P address is different each time I connect.
