I have a Dell 1397 { Broadcom BCM 4312 [ 14e4 : 4315 ] } in my Dell Inspiron 1464 .
I am facing constant problem with the card on Ubuntu 10.04 and BackTrack 5 / BackTrack 5 R1 with B43 drivers for the last 6 months and have tried all most everything I could get hold off to solve the problem but was unable to .
This is what happens :
I install the drivers according to the instructions as given on you site . It goes without a problem .
I reboot the system and as the root user
Scan for networks using : iwlist wlan0 scan
The networks show up .
Connect to the network using : iwconfig wlan0 essid "IIST-H1-DHRUVA"
IIST-H1-DHRUVA being the network name .
Goes well .
Request an IP address using : dhclient wlan0
So far , so good .
Now I start using the internet . It works for a while and then stops responding . I have not yet figured out if it is after a certain time period or after a certain amount of data transfer but the working period is pretty small , about 15 to 30 seconds after getting connected . After this , I am not able to transfer any data nor reconnect and am forced to reboot and the whole cycle starts over again .
The description given is with respect to BackTrack 5 R1 .
The problem is slightly different in Ubuntu 10.04 where the entire system stops responding and I am forced to Force Reboot using the Power button .
These details might prove useful
uname -a
dmesg
lspci -vvn | grep 43 -A7
I have attached the output of the commands in log(.txt) files attached alongwith .
Here is the file you asked for .http://wikisend.com/download/879984/kern.log]kern.log
(The file is larger than 256 KB )
But I am afraid it might not have the information of the same event as in the other logs . If that is is case , just let me know the files you want and I will upload a fresh copy of all of them with the most recent instance of the problem .
Make sure you download it as soon as possible as the link expires in 7 days .
