automounter uid question/problem

I'm using automounter on RHAS3 to mount my home directory that reside on an AIX server. My uid on the AIX server is 514. The uid 514 on the Linux server belongs to another user. When I log into the linux server and automounter mounts my home directory, the owner of all of my files and directories becomes the linux 514 uid/user. Is there anything I can do to remedy this, or is it just a matter of synching up uids across servers and platforms. I forsee this becoming an administrative nightmare as uids are not syched up across platform and in some cases across servers of the same platform.
