Aspire one: Can't ping localhost, has access to internet

I've decided to do something productive while I'm stuck in the Guard in the army, and have accepted some web programming jobs. To do them, I'm pretty much dependent on having a local server running.

I bought this computer 3 months ago, and the apache server has been running without problems for pretty much the same amount of time. It started hating life a few weeks ago, what triggered it, I don't know.

It all started with the network selection logo in the taskbar disappearing. No problem, I have a 3G-network-huawei-thingy up and running.

But then suddenly I can't access http://localhost anymore. I deleted httpd.conf and reinstalled. No change. I ping 127.0.0.1 and localhost, no response(100% packet loss). No response from localhost, with apache on or off.

So I've ruled out httpd as the problem, there must be some setting somewhere that changed during an update or something. As the title says, I can access the internet through 3G, if that matters to you guys.
route yields:
Code:
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface
10.64.64.64 * 255.255.255.255 UH 0 0 0 ppp0
default * 0.0.0.0 U 0 0 0 ppp0
ping:
Code:
[root@localhost user]# ping localhost
PING localhost (127.0.0.1) 56(84) bytes of data.

--- localhost ping statistics ---
2 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 999ms

I desperately need your help, as there's nothing else to do but programming while guarding the base at night ^^

Thanks in advance

Stab in the dark here, but:

ifconfig lo up

If that doesn't miraculously work, post your ifconfig and maybe your resolv.conf, /etc/hosts

Just now, I felt a little weird mix of emotions. I realize that I've just wasted hours and hours on troubleshooting, just to crawl to this forum and get a petty command fixing it all thrown in my face.

My god, how little I know. Everything's up and running! Thank you!

Now, to earn some money!

haha. Glad to help. If you are having problems with that starting up automatically when the comp starts, we have a bigger problem, so repost here if that's the case. Happy programming.
