In readhat 9.0 the package redhat-config-printer-gui has a program located in /usr/bin/printconf-gui that makes it real easy to set up cups to use samba printers. Rpmfind shows an older version of the same package is available for redhat 8.

Well I am still having printing problems.
While my networks is talking one another- I am still having some quirks.

Windows

Your computer could not be joined to the domain because the following error has occurred:

The account used is a computer account. Use your global user account or local user account to access this server.

I ge this whenI try to put the computer into the Domain.
Although it does see it on the Linux side fine , but I am trying to make sure we Authinicate to it and I can connect the printer to it by network sharing through Windows.

here is copy of the SMB.CONF file.

Please help me get this going .

# smb.conf is the main samba configuration file. You find a full commented
# version at /usr/share/doc/packages/samba/examples/smb.conf.SuSE

I'm sharing a printer from a win98 computer so I have no idea if the setup works with anything else. The relevant lines from my smb.conf are here:
Code:
# if you want to automatically load your printer list rather
# than setting them up individually then you'll need this
	printcap name = /etc/printcap
	load printers = yes
# NOTE: If you have a BSD-style print system there is no need to
# specifically define each individual printer
[printers]
	comment = All Printers
	path = /var/spool/samba
	browseable = yes
# Set public = yes to allow user 'guest account' to print
	printable = yes
btw, I have samba-2.2.7a-8.9.0
