Applying for Network administrator jobs

So I'am on Indeed looking at network admin positions. Now what has me confused is the titles say 'Network Administrator' but the requirements say MCSE, and not CCNA. I know MCSE is associated with an systems administrator. I found around 4 Network admin titles, but the requirements say MCSE, is this a mess up, by whoever posted the job?

nope, means the HR department has been told by the CEO that they have a Microsoft environment, thus require someone with the MCSE

its Microsofts certifications.

Sometimes, company use "Network Administrator" for "Administrator of a Network of Computers". And if the computers happen to run MS, they look for MS certified folks...

or use it as a filtration method to weed out lesser experienced applicants.

again MCSE is exclusive for MS windows networks. has nothing to do with Cisco or Linux networking.

as for friends just ask in public you will get an answer faster.

Well I recently graduated this summer, and a friend of mine graduates in 2015 from a different school. We're both majoring in Network administration, but he said he was taking programming classes like C++, visual and more, which I found odd. Below is my school courses I took, and the second list are his courses. Every job I looked at on indeed doesn't ask for programming at all. So I wonder if he would have a advantage over me though.

My school Core Courses: Full Network admin degree

CIS 171 Fundamentals of Unix/Linux I
CIS 201 Intro to Computer Programming Concepts
CIS 255 Java Programming
CIS 267 Enterprise Virtualization
CIS 268 Software Support
CIS 269 Hardware Support
CIS 270 Cisco I
CIS 271 Cisco II
CIS 272 Cisco III
CIS 273 Cisco IV
CIS 276 Server Administration
CIS 280 Network Security
CIS Electives (Choose from CIS 214, 246, 282, 283,
294, 296, 297)Choose two

Friends school-Core Courses: CIS degree, then you have to get Networking Cert after

Introduction to Computers 3
CIS150 Intro to Computer Logic and Programming
CIS207 Introduction to Web Development 3
CIS212 Visual Basic Programming 3
CIS251 C++ Programming 3
CIS268 Software Support 3
CIS269 Hardware Support 3
CIS270 CISCO I 3
CIS281 Systems Analysis and Design 3

& then you have to get the Network cert which includes:
CIS271 CISCO II 3
CIS272 CISCO III 3
CIS273 CISCO IV 3

his looks more like a trade school degree path (think ITT) yours looks almost like a cross between a CS degree and a trade school. neither look like a 4yr degree.
