Apache install page has unreadable characters

I just installed Apache 1.3.20 on my linux box. I started the apachectl and httpd is running fine. My problem is when I pulled up my test, ie., I see the "you've installed Apache successfully..." problem is that I've seen this page before and mine has all unreadable English at looks like it can't be translated into English...
