apache -> connection refused error

I installed apache apache 1.3.xx on RedHat 9.0.
My network environment is ..
Dynamic IP (Cable) -> Router (192.168.1.1) -> PC (192.168.1.100)
And the external port (80) is forwarded to (192.168.1.100:8080) by the router.

It seems to be installed properly because I am getting the default
web page with these URLs from the PC.

hyyp://192.168.1.100:8080
hyyp://localhost:8080

But I get error message "The connection is refused when attempting to
contact 192.168.1.100" if I try just 192.168.1.100 (or localhost).

How can I get proper access with just "192.168.1.100" ?

I have my own domain (my.domain) and aim to set up a web server
in the end.

can any one help??

It's cos your browser is looking for a connection on port 80 (the default) add another rule to your router for this port and amend httpd.conf respectively and it should work (unless I've missed the point, in which case I appologise)

Regards,

James

You're not really the original poster are you?? 2 1/2 years is a hell of a long time to put up with this kind of problem. Could you explain what the problem is exactly?

After 6.3 years? It must not be that important. And apparently you lost your original LQo password.

Can you connect to Apache from the same computer as Apache runs on, both without specifying a port number in the URL, and with specifying the port as 80? If not, make sure Apache is actually listening on port 80 (instead of, or in addition to, port 8080).

When trying to connect from outside, what hostname or IP address is the connection being made to?
