just "upgraded" to FC4. wouldn't recommend this if you're generally happy with your current installation. after my pleasant experience with FC3, i expected FC4 to be an improvement. but it's a pretty sloppy release. anyway...
i've been using samba for years, but its complexity increases faster than i can learn. so i'm stuck again.
my goal is very, very simple. i've got 2 machines running behind a netgear router, on a private subnet. one is running windows, the other FC4 Linux w/samba.
i can't connect to samba from linux or windows. the latest types of errors i'm getting (from various clients/logs) are like:
- tdb(unnamed): tdb_open_ex: could not open file /var/cache/samba/unexpected.tdb: No such file or directory
- '/home/'SHARE'' does not exist or is not a directory, when connecting to ['SHARE']
- The file or folder smb://192.168.0.3/extra1 does not exist.
given my experience with Fedora releases, I'm assumming this is a bug in the samba version included with FC4.
has **anyone** gotten samba to work from an out of the box FC4 release? i'm talking no updates or unusual conf tweaks, etc...
