any way to see network usage by processes

HI,

Is there any ps type utility to see which process is transmitting or receiving at that instance? There is some process which generated some 1 GB traffic in the last week, however in ps -aux its difficult to tell, which processes it is.

Regards,
Irfan

You can try with some snmp tools. I think iptraf is also capable of showing some stuff about it.

Find out what process is on what port:
sudo lsof -i | tee openports.txt

Then use iptraf to collect how much data is running through which port.

Cross reference the two.
