Another Samba issue

Following on from my last post, (and still trying to resolve those issues) I'm noticing that when I try to configure the domain in the Win2K machines, windoze always interprets key strokes (like the domain name entry) in upper case. Should I go back to my Samba PDC and configure the domain and netbios entries in upper case too? seems a strange break from normal rules
Cheers
Chris

I have a samba PDC running at home and everything in my smb.conf file is in lower case letters and I have no trouble logging in from my windows 2000 machines.

Remember, in order to add a windows machine to a samba PDC you must add root to smbpasswd file and use encrypted passwords.
When you add a win machine to the domain you must enter root as username and your samba password for root. Your samba password for root may differ from the machine password.

to add root to smbpasswd file do teh following:

smbpasswd -a root

the type a password for root

Be sure you're using encrypted passwords:

[global]
...
encrypt passwords = yes
...

Adios!
